Winnipeg Airports Authority has set cannabis consumption rules at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. Consistent with provincial law regarding public areas, recreational cannabis use is prohibited on airport property. This includes the areas outside the terminal building designated for tobacco smoking.
Travellers are permitted to fly within Canada with up to 30 grams of cannabis. It is still illegal to take cannabis across national borders, regardless of whether you are exiting from or returning to Canada. It is still a serious criminal offence subject to arrest and prosecution.
Regulations overseeing travel while impaired have not changed, and airline employees still have the authority to refuse service to a passenger they believe to be impaired.
