If you are flying to the U.S., you've been precleared

Crossing the border from the U.S. to Canada by air is now quicker and more efficient with the expansion of preclearance facilities across the country. There are currently eight airports in Canada with preclearance facilities — including Winnipeg Richardson International Airport — which enables U.S. bound passengers to clear customs in Canada before they fly.

Grab your bags and go

By going through a preclearance facility at a Canadian airport, you clear United States Customs in Canada prior to your arrival. When you land in the U.S., you arrive as a domestic flight and can simply grab your bags and be on your way or jump on your next U.S. connecting flight. Preclearance facilities help expedite the travel process allowing passengers to skip lines when they arrive at their destination as they've already been admitted into the country.
