Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) is conducting a live emergency exercise at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport on Thursday, September 12, 2024, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
During the exercise, travellers, visitors, airport employees, and the public may see increased emergency activity, including airport stakeholders and emergency response personnel, emergency vehicles, and airport equipment on the airfield, but should not be alarmed. Only authorized personnel will be admitted into the exercise area, and the exercise is not open to media participation.
Airport operations will not be impacted as a result of the exercise. If weather or other operational issues arise, the exercise will be postponed. Notice of the exercise will be shared on YWG’s social media channels and communicated throughout the terminal on the day of the exercise.
WAA and partner agencies run regular exercises throughout the year to test protocols, procedures, communications, and planning for emergency and security-related incidents. Several organizations, including airport stakeholders, emergency response personnel, and Transport Canada, are involved in the planning and implementation of these exercises.
Our top priority is the safety and security of WAA and airport employees, passengers, and other visitors.
