Winnipeg Airports Authority's longstanding partnership with WestJet continues to evolve, further benefiting Manitobans by making it easier for them to connect with loved ones, new business opportunities or destinations they’ve been dreaming about.
During a special event at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport on Monday, the airline unveiled plans to bring back daily, non-stop service to Montreal and increase daily connectivity to Ottawa beginning June 3, 2024.
"We know how critical Ottawa and Montreal are for Winnipeg's thriving business community, and we are thrilled to continue our legacy of elevating Winnipeg's economic growth through strategic air connections," said Mike Scott, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer.
WestJet also announced that it will start flying twice a week this fall between Winnipeg and Nashville, a growing leisure travel hotspot and brand-new destination out of YWG. The seasonal service creates an exciting opportunity for a weekend getaway to catch a concert and check out all Music City offers.
WAA's steadfast alliance with WestJet demonstrates the commitment of both organizations to discover bold new ways to bolster the region's connectivity. The new and expanding routes complement the airline's additions to its Winnipeg network over the last few years, including non-stop flights to Los Angeles, a highly utilized link for Manitoba's budding entertainment industry, and Atlanta, a global hub that provides an endless web of exploration.

With the addition of Montreal and Nashville, WestJet will connect Winnipeg to 12 domestic, seven transborder, and four sun destinations this year, operating more than 15,000 flights annually. This makes the airline the largest carrier at YWG, serving as an essential link for travellers across the region.
